Athletic Excellence

Our volleyball training programs are designed to specifically to prepare OVA Rep athletes who are committed to the sport of volleyball and preparing to pursue their volleyball career. Being a part of this program will give you the opportunity to train and excel, with a focus on developing your skills and prepare you for the college, university, provincial and national team levels. Assisting with this process of development will be our elite coaching staff of former National or Olympic player or NCCP volleyball certified.

Fundamental Training

2025–2026

Overview:

  • Focuses on core skills: passing, setting, serving, spiking, blocking, and digging

  • Builds consistency, control, and confidence through targeted, technique-driven drills

  • Each 120-minute session includes warm-ups, skill drills, and scrimmage play

  • Ideal for beginners and intermediate players preparing for advanced training

​Overview:

  • Build specialized skills for key volleyball positions

  • Improve positional awareness, movement, and on-court communication

  • Strengthen game performance through targeted, role-specific drills

Key skills:

  • Hand positioning, footwork, decision-making, back-setting


Drills:

  • Setter-to-Hitter Connection: Repetitive sets to outside and middle hitters to build timing and accuracy

  • Movement & Reaction: Quick transitions from defense to setting to improve court awareness

  • Dump Shots: Practicing deceptive plays that disguise attacks as sets

  • Serve-Receive Repetition: Practice passing from multiple court zones

  • Defensive Reaction Drills: Dig against both hard-driven and off-speed attacks

  • Floor Defense: Train diving and sprawling techniques for low balls

  • Learn offensive and defensive systems (5–1, 6–2, serve-receive formations)

  • Improve decision-making, positioning, and real-time adaptability

  • Develop court awareness through small-sided games and coached scrimmages

  • Weekly focus on serve-receive, combination plays, defensive systems, and scouting

  • Best for players ready to elevate their game with structured, strategy-based training

A fun, skills-based program for young athletes:

  • Focus on core techniques: serving, passing, setting, hitting

  • Intro to game concepts: rotations, positions, teamwork

  • Build confidence, communication, and sportsmanship

  • Fun, active sessions to keep players engaged

Key skills:

  • Underhand & overhand serving

  • Forearm passing and footwork

  • Overhead setting technique

  • Basic hitting and approach

  • Intro to blocking & defensive movement
